Glasgow was the first city to have the famous tearoom. The Scots were greatly influenced by the auld alliance, the patisserie chefs coming over from Italy and France. The Scottish population loved this new innovative addition to their diet and have been leaders ever since. For any currant lover, the Bannock is the most amazing mega currant bread, wonderful toasted with lashing of butter.

The Butcher

We are lucky enough to still have a village butchers - Grants of Taynuilt. With the open hillsides and highland, where herds of deer run free alongside sheep and cattle, it is the most wonderful place to get real proper tasting meat. The old Scots butcher knows how to handle the meat, getting the very best tast and delicacy. Remember, whenever cooking meat always let it rest when it comes out of the oven or grill, even steaks.
